Sheffield Wednesdays Barry Bannan takes part in the FL72 Podcasts 10 to Tackle with Sky Sports. Nike Cortez Nederland . Listen to the FL72 Podcast here...Barry, first one, what do your team mates call you? Normally I get called Baz or Bazza. Ive had that since Ive been growing up so its pretty boring but its Baz or Bazza.Whats the best thing about playing for Sheffield Wednesday?I would probably say the support you get from the fans is unbelievable, playing for the fans. Theyve been brilliant all season so playing in front of your fans is pretty exciting.Cleverest team mate?I would probably say Pricey [Lewis Price] - hes a PFA rep so I would say him - but hes also the dumbest at the same time if you know what I mean. FL72 Podcast - Dyche, Ferguson, Hughes In what way?Hes just always playing pranks or having pranks played on him. So Pricey - when he wants to be - hes probably one of the cleverest.Whats your squad number and whats the significance of it?Its number 41 but it was the chairman here who asked me to take that apparently. In his country its a lucky number for him apparently. For me I was only 25 I think when I came. Because I had that at other places and I liked it but the chairman wanted me to have it and he said it would be a lucky number for me - youll have to ask him - but it has been lucky so far.Not may 41s about? No, its very rare you see it but its been a lucky number for me. I had a good season so far so its working. What would you be if you werent a footballer?Probably a painter and decorator with my Dad. I didnt have the best brains at school. I focussed on my football since I was young so Im lucky that Ive got it. Bannan was named in the Championship team of the year Its worked out..Yes Id say its worked out. But if it didnt work out Id probably be a painter and decorator.Who is the best player youve played with?I would probably say [Christian] Benteke - I enjoyed playing with him. Either Benteke or Gareth Barry. Best moment in football so far? When I got promoted with Blackpool - that was a bit special. I was young at the time as well. I was on loan and didnt really know what it was all about, the football league, and to get promoted that day was unbelievable. We were underdogs as well.Brilliant play-off final..Yes it was brilliant. That was probably one of the best moments thus far - hopefully I can better it this year. Bannan spent five years with Aston Villa And worst moment?Probably when I got sent off against Nottingham Forest a few weeks ago. That was my first red card ever so that was a bad moment but luckily we won the game. Then probably when we lost in the semi-final - Bradford v Aston Villa. It was the League Cup and we were one game away from Wembley. Over two legs we lost and Id say thats probably the worst one.Whats your favourite item of memorabilia from your career?I got a lot of good shirts. Ive kept a lot of good, good shirts. Probably the Paul Scholes one is the one that sticks out most. Did you wait to the end of the game to ask to swap?I couldnt get near him during to swap so yes, I had to wait to swap. I had to catch him in the tunnel. Now youre probably going to finish sixth, so describe your season so far in one word?Good. Not very good. Good. It will be very good if we get promoted. The Reds will host the Los Angeles Dodgers tonight in the opener of a four-game series at Great American Ball Park, and the debut matchup will feature a pair of pitchers whose recent resumes have included a fair number of bases-clearing hits.MIAMI -- Two days after Jeff Mathis was the centre of a controversial play at the plate, he came up big for the Miami Marlins. Mathis scored the winning run in the 10th inning of a 2-1 victory over the Cincinnati Reds on Saturday night. He doubled to left to lead off the inning against Sam LeCure (1-3), advanced to third on a sacrifice bunt by Reed Johnson, and scored on a base hit to centre by Christian Yelich. "Hes a huge part of our team, he cares a lot, not only about winning, but the ball club," Marlins manager Mike Redmond said. "...So for him to come up there in that situation and get the big hit to start us off was huge and to score the winning run, I know that means a lot to him and I know hell sleep good tonight." Mathis, who had a call at the plate overturned in Thursdays 3-1 loss as replay officials ruled that he was blocking the plate, had another play at home in the eighth inning of Saturdays game. Billy Hamilton hit a bloop single to left field and Mathis stayed back to wait for Yelichs throw home as Ramon Santiago slid in safely to tie the game at 1-1. "Back in the day, that guys out," Redmond said. "Next year hell be out." After the inning, the typically mild-mannered Mathis was visibly frustrated in the dugout. "Any time you give up the lead after a game like that with the outing that Nathan (Eovaldi) gave us is pretty frustrating," Mathis said. The Marlins Mike Dunn (9-5) struck out two batters in the top of the 10th after Chris Heisey delivered a pinch-hit triple. "There was the option to squeeze right there and that is something we thought about, but Billy (Hamilton) has been good with runners in scoring position," Reds manager Bryan Price said. "What we needed was a base hit." Both starting pitchers, the Reds Homer Bailey and the Marlins Nathan Eovaldi, pitched seven innings and allowed one run. The Marlins snapped a three-game losing streeak overall and a seven-game skid to the Reds. Nike Air Force 1 Low Aanbieding. Yelich doubled in the third inning and Jordany Valdespin drove him home with a single to centre to give the Marlins an early 1-0 lead. TRAINERS ROOM Marlins All-Star Henderson Alvarez was placed on the disabled list on Friday, retroactive to July 30, with the hopes that he will just need the 15 days before his next appearance. "It doesnt appear to be a long-term thing, which is great news," Redmond said. "Its just a matter of him just getting himself feeling good, feeling healthy and getting back to playing catch and throwing again." Redmond added that catcher Jarrod Saltalamacchia has been dealing with a sore back, giving more opportunities to Mathis. ON DECK Mike Leake (8-9, 3.53) will start for the Reds in Sundays series finale against Jacob Turner (4-6, 5.69). Leake is coming off a win against Arizona on July 29, pitching 7 2-3 scoreless innings and striking out eight. EOVALDI BOUNCES BACK Eovaldi came into the game with an 0-2 record and 9.92 ERA in his previous three starts, but was sharp throughout allowing just two hits and two walks while striking out six. "You could tell he was on a mission," Redmond said. "He carved through their lineup pretty good." Eovaldi was pulled after giving up a lead-off single Santiago in the eighth. "I wanted to stay in there really, I was really frustrated that I had to come out, but its baseball and (Bryan) Morris has been awesome for us," Eovaldi said. "We were able to come back and get the win and thats all that matters." BAILEY IN GOOD FORM Bailey didnt feel sharp early, but he was able to get positive results--something hes done a lot of lately. Over his last six starts, Bailey is 1-1 with a 1.88 ERA. Like Eovaldi, he would have liked to have gone further in the game. "I would like to have gone eight (innings) but my .110 batting average just does not play very well." ' ' '
